Public Access & Accessibility

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) prohibits state and local governments from discriminating against individuals with disabilities in their services, programs or activities. This means that no qualified person with a disability may be excluded, by reason of that disability, from participation in or be denied the benefits of the services, programs or activities of the Township or be subjected to discrimination by the Township. The Township of Cranberry adopts and abides by this policy.

Disability means a physical or mental impairment which substantially limits one or more of the major life activities of an individual. A qualified individual with a disability is one who meets the essential eligibility requirements for receipt of services or participation in the Township's programs, activities or services with or without (1) reasonable modifications to the Township's rules, policies or practices, (2) removal of architectural, communication or transportation barriers, or (3) provision of auxiliary aids and services. An individual who poses a direct threat to the health or safety of others is not qualified.

The ADA applies to all programs, services and activities offered by the Township. These include, but are not limited to, the facilities and sites of Township programs, services and activities, Township roads, parking lots, sidewalks and pathways, communications between the Township and the public, courses and examinations offered by the Township, employment and public transportation services. The ADA also extends to programs, services, and activities provided by a contractor for the benefit of the residents of the Township.

The Township will make reasonable modifications in its policies, practices and procedures when such modifications are necessary to avoid discrimination on the basis of disability, unless the modification would fundamentally alter the nature of the program, service or activity or result in an undue financial or administrative burden.

Requests for modifications, suggestions of methods by which the Township's programs and services can be made more accessible, and other comments can be addressed to the Township Manager's Office.  Ph: 724-776-4806, x 1103. ADA Grievance Procedure
