A project to install a new Waterpark feature aimed at the 2-to-5-year-old age group could be ready by the beginning of the 2024 swimming season.
The sand play area at the Waterpark has created operational issues with sand infiltrating the pump system, and has become home to nesting bees, creating a safety hazard. As the area has also reached its life expectancy and equipment had been removed prior to the 2023 season, the Board of Supervisors on October 5 approved Herbert Rowland & Grubic Inc. to handle design and engineering for the project, which could be ready by the May 2024 opening of the Waterpark season.
The new, age-appropriate attraction will feature a splash pad aimed at younger pool guests, complete with small slides and shade coverings.
