Due to the weather forecast this weekend, the Freedom Road closure has been postponed.
Freedom Road westbound will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, October 7 to 6 a.m. Monday, October 10 between Haine School Road and Commonwealth Drive.
Contractor Gulisek Construction LLC of Mt. Pleasant will maintain eastbound traffic with signage and flagging as needed. For the westbound detour, traffic will use Freedom Road east to Route 19 north to Rochester Road to Powell Road to Freedom Road.
The closure is needed as crews work on paving, drainage, and signal upgrades. The project is an extension of Freedom Road project which included new highway and turning lanes, widening, paving, drainage, signal upgrade/replacement, lighting work, highway realignment, safety improvements and sidewalks.
The $9.8 million project is estimated to be completed in Fall 2022.
