Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors presented police officer Josh Shimko with the Township’s Lifesaving Award at its August 31 meeting. The award was given out of appreciation for his timely use of a tourniquet to staunch the arterial bleeding of a gunshot victim on August 7 at a home on Marshall Road. Following training from Cranberry EMS earlier this year as part of a regional Stop the Bleed campaign, the Township’s police officers each received a tourniquet from UPMC and the Jewish Healthcare Foundation. Those tourniquets are now part of the standard supply kits carried on the department’s patrol vehicles.
