The Cranberry Township police department roster is back up to 28 full-time officers. Two new patrolmen, sworn in at the Board of Supervisors’ June 4 meeting, fill a pair of vacancies left in the department with the departure of several other officers last year. Scott Carney, a Cranberry native, previously held part-time appointments with the Economy and Edgeworth Borough police departments before landing a full-time assignment as an officer on the University of Pittsburgh police force. For the past four years, Edward Steinmetz had also been part of the University of Pittsburgh’s police department – two years as a patrolman, and two as a plain clothes officer.
