Updates to the Township’s flood plain boundaries, received approval on May 6, making the Township’s rules consistent with flood-related regulations of the Federal Emergency Management Association. The last time an official federal map was published showing where streams would potentially flood at different intervals in Cranberry was 1982. Now, with more sophisticated mapping technology, those maps have been redrawn, resulting in fewer Township properties falling within those flood boundaries. Those new maps become official next year, forming the basis for issuing municipal building permits and determining eligibility for federal flood insurance.
