Why we joined CTPA when you can play for free elsewhere?
Courts are very nice and close to our home.
What you like best about pickleball?
Competition and socializing. As retirees, it is something to look forward to every week.
What do you see for the future of pickleball?
Continued expansion for 5-10 years, especially with younger players. Unlike the past tennis and golf booms, the pickleball boom is not related to stars seen on TV. Plus, it is a lot easier to learn and cheaper to play than tennis or golf. And it is often taught in school gym classes. Many areas of the country have still not been exposed but will add to the expansion when they are.

Why we joined CTPA when you can play for free elsewhere?
As we were moving into a different stage in our life - an empty nester - we were looking for an activity we could both enjoy along with an opportunity to meet some new people. CTPA has given us the platform to develop new friendships and lasting relationships with built-in programs to play pickleball and enjoy the competitiveness of playing.
What you like best about pickleball?
Pickleball has rewarded us with the opportunity to meet new people and serves as an outlet to rekindle our competitive side. It's truly a sport that you can get away from daily distractions and be in the moment with three other people on the court.
What do you see for the future of pickleball?
We truly hope pickleball does not lose the intention of what it was designed for: to bring people together and to enjoy the sport while exercising. The sport has grown tremendously over the past several years. Through recreational play, it's one of the few sports that you can have a wide variety of ages and skill levels on the court and all be playing together.

- Neighborhood: Deer Run Years
- Living in Cranberry: 2.5
- Year joining CTPA: June 2020
Why we joined CTPA when you can play for free elsewhere?
We initially joined because we live 5 minutes from Graham Park, so it was very convenient. Always seeing the courts crowded and being new to the area, it made sense to join and meet new people. After being a member for a year and a half now, we have been very impressed with the organization and how many different events CTPA offers. They make it very easy to play with other players that are similar skill levels to you as well as playing in multiple different formats.
What you like best about pickleball?
Nate: I enjoy how pickleball can be played by all ages. I know that I will be able to play for many years in the future because it is not very strenuous on the body. There are a variety of age and skill levels, so you can always have competitive games.
Kim: I like that pickleball is competitive. Being a college athlete, I really missed competitive sports after college and pickleball has given us so many opportunities to play in tournaments and shoot-outs at CTPA with tough competition.
What do you see for the future of pickleball?
Nate: I think the game of pickleball will continue to grow and I think we will start to see more tournaments take place that award price money for amateurs as well. Hopefully, we start to see a few indoor facilities that are strictly dedicated to pickleball making it even easier to continue playing in the winter months.
Kim: I see pickleball growing even more for the younger generation. We have been trying to get more of our friends to try it out and they are starting to show more of an interest. Hopefully, one day it will be in the Olympics!
